Brunch is a Shanghai institution to be enjoyed in luxury and The Cathay Room in the Fairmont Peace Hotel offers the very best in service, heritage and fine food. A brunch with us is an indulgent experience characterized by relaxation and pleasure at the spectacular array of fresh, seasonal produce and outstanding views over the Bund and the Pudong skyline.
Available every Sunday between 11:30 and 14:30, this outstanding and intimate Sunday Brunch features a wide range of gastronomic delicacies complemented by three different kinds of French fine champagne. Executive Sous Chef Mark and his culinary team, prepares the highest in quality and opulence.
The incomparable buffet features an abundance of the freshest seafood, including Canadian lobster, Alaskan king crab, freshly shucked silky French oysters, an array of sashimi and sushi, amongst other fruits of the sea. Other treats include the finest foie gras to be enjoyed with freshly made bread, a mouth-watering breadth of European charcuterie, European cheeses, and a fine selection of seasonal fair including fresh salads, cold appetizers, and classic Chinese cuisine; savour the roast lamb, BBQ pork and simply superb Cantonese crispy pork.
In addition to the remarkable buffet selections, guests can choose from a seasonally inspired a la carte menu including silky Eggs Benedict with the finest caviar, confit duck, and a main course selection highlighting the highest quality ingredients that the Cathay Room chefs expertly prepare; the grilled lobster is a must try or you could choose The Cathay Room's centerpiece: the 1931 Sirloin Steak Sarah Bernhardt (Grilled Sirloin pink pepper sauce potato gratin roasted cherry tomato). This perfectly seasoned and cooked cut is tender and juicy and perfectly balanced making it a wondrously rich and sensuous treat. The dish is designed from the menu from 1930’s from the Cathay Hotel (the former name of the hotel when the founder Sir. Victor Sassoon built the most luxury hotel in town). New to the menu is also the delicious Beef Wellington with a truffle mushroom duxelle roll in crispy puff pastry. This tender, pink fillet is surrounded by fine pastry and filled with the earthy flavor of mushroom pate. This is a fine plate of food.
Finish off your brunch with a luscious dessert selection with plenty of choice and variety from French patisserie, to cheesecake and chocolate delicacies. A particular highlight is the made-to-order soufflé, a soft pillow of sweetness to round off the perfect brunch.
