With endless sun, constant entertainment and an endless parade of good looking people, what’s not to like about Los Angeles? It’s where creative endeavors come into bloom and fantastical thought is encouraged.

Incorporated into US rule following the Mexican-American War, Los Angeles experienced a drastic boom following the collapse of the gold rush in the 1850s, the arrival of a railroad in the 1870s, the launch of San Pedro harbor in 1907 and the opening of the aqueduct in 1913. Fuelled by its most well-known cultural export in Hollywood, Los Angeles has grown into a melting pot of bold creativity, vibrant ethnic communities and a cultural pioneer.

Beyond the glitz and glamor of Hollywood, the cross-cultural makeup of Los Angeles has weaved its way into the modern fabric of life: food, art, music and fashion. From authentic Cantonese restaurants to carefully prepared Korean-Mexican tacos, LA does food like no other city in the world. Vegan? Look no further. Plant-based diets have spread like wildfire through this expansive city. Beyond the picture-perfect weather, Los Angeles is a visual feast that ranges from iconic landmarks, modernist architecture, Hollywood homes and more.

The near perfect weather of Southern California means Los Angeles is a treat to visit around the calendar. Temperatures climb to around 20ºC in January and February, while rising to a scorching 28ºC during August. LA is notorious for its car culture, with traffic being a constant source of frustration, but subway trains, light rails and buses are all viable options as well. Any LA foodie will tell you that the best bites come on four wheels. Food trucks are extremely popular choice among locals and these mobile kitchens make for an experience just as unique as the most extravagant of restaurants.
